Memories Make their Mark
June 2025 Series
I’ve always been enchanted by the crow’s feet around my older relatives’ eyes, seeing them as joyful memories etched on their faces. My art reflects this admiration for aging, likening wrinkles to tree rings—symbols of personal history and growth. Through layers of paint and pastel, I invite viewers to embrace the depth and beauty of aging, recognizing it as a privilege and a testament to the stories that shape us.

Collaborative Kintsugi Series
May 2025 Series
This collaborative series with ceramic artist Veronica Sandercock, whose interpretation of traditional kintsugi becomes a powerful metaphor for healing, resilience, and restoration. Through the act of mending what was once broken accompanied by companion paintings I’ve created, we invite viewers to reflect on the possibilities of renewal and repair.

BREAKING SILENCE
Mixed Media
11"x14"
This mixed-media artwork uses acrylic, watercolor, and pastels to depict the struggle of reclaiming one’s voice and agency. Removing the stifling tape reveals a vibrant spectrum of color radiating from the liberated figure. Inspired by the rhythm of sound waves and the impassioned flow of spoken word poetry, the texture and depth capture dynamic energy of authenticity. Each brushstroke embodies a vow to amplify marginalized voices and advocate for those facing challenges of injustice.

Reaching
8”x10”
Acrylic and Soft Pastel
This painting was inspired by a ceramic bowl by Veronica Sandercock, which holds a delicate child’s dress, a haunting remnant symbolizing both presence and absence. I created this companion piece to explore themes of loss, memory, and the fragile remnants of innocence. The bowl serves as a metaphor for the womb, a vessel of creation, protection, and deep vulnerability. In this painting, a hand reaches toward a child’s, evoking the longing to connect, to save, even when what is being reached for may already be gone. The colors and textures mirror those of the ceramic, linking the physical object to the emotional landscape of the painting.

RESILIENCE RISING
Acrylic and Soft Pastel
16”x20”
July 2024
This painting honors women who have led the fight against sexual and domestic violence, from Tarana Burke, who started the “Me Too” movement, to Tracy Thurman inspiring the Family Violence Prevention and Response Act alongside other unnamed figures representing those advocating for change. The painting depicts survivors rising from the ashes, symbolizing resilience and hope. Using teal and purple as the primary colors, the vibrancy highlights the importance of this pursuit and raises awareness of sexual and domestic violence.
